ABOUT MINI MIRACLES FARM:

The Brookshire family has been farming in the SC area for over 100 years. The patriarchs of the farm had been local farmers as well as horse and mule trainers. If a farmer in these parts needed a horse or mule to pull the carriage, wagon or plow with; they came to see Mr. Brookshire. He had some of the finest stock available and a gentle, natural way of training
animals. In addition, the family raised almost all
of the food for themselves and their animals for
years until their eventual passing. They believed
in hard work and self-sufficiency.

In 2005, while recovering from a stroke and simultaneous heart attack, Hellen Brookshire was contemplating the future use of the property. She expressed to her son and daughter-in-law (both teachers) that she wanted the farm to become a
place where children could learn about animals and farming. Ironically in the research to assist both a grandson with autism and Hellen from her stroke, the family learned about the use of miniature donkeys as therapeutic animals. During research for the farm, Hellen's family began to discover the tremendous disconnect that the current generation has from
their food.

Over the years, many uses for the farm have grown
to include educational tours for groups and school children as well as sustainable produce, eggs and a CSA / Buyer's Group for the public. The Buyer's
group incorporates local farmers working together
to provide fresh, local, sustainable produce, free
range eggs, grass fed beef, and other local products
to the "share" holders.

Mini Miracles Farm was named with the
understanding that God's grace and the miracle of
life is all around us and sustains us in the life cycle
of the plants and animals He has so graciously
provided into our keeping.

We celebrate Christ's gift of everlasting life
and his teaching that miracles are performed by faith
in God. We invite you to open your eyes and your
hearts to the "mini miracles" of His love and creation and the healing it can bring.

The farm is home to several animals that have
been rescued from abuse or neglect or donated by
well meaning individuals who could no longer keep
up the animals. These additions to our
"island of misfit toys" are lovingly cared for
by the volunteers and children who participate in
our different programs. We focus on including
children with special needs as well as
those who have an interest in learning about and working with animals. We find that in ministering together, each group - animals, children and those
with special needs - benefit from each other and thus have the opportunity to express Christ's love and
caring to each other in a meaningful way.

We work with other non-profit, youth or Christian
based organizations. Please don't hesitate to inquire about our programs or how we might be able to assist your church or group.
